Mission and History

Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP)'s mission is to improve the health, empowerment and social integration of physically disabled people of all ages through participation in recreational, fitness, and sports activities. Since 1976, over 50,000 disabled people and their families have become involved in recreation through BORP, which serves as a model in advocating for recreational access.

Program

BORP provides challenging and innovative sports and recreation programs to Bay Area residents of all ages with physical disabilities and visual impairments through a variety of free and low-cost activities, including basketball, tennis, quad rugby, rafting, bowling, skiing, hiking, and more. They maintain a resource library on recreation and other disability issues, and provide consultation and training on integrating programs."Bay Cruisers" is the team name of BORP's Children and Youth Sports program. This program is for physically disabled youth aged 5-19. BORP sponsors a weekly program for older, disabled adults from ages 40 to 80.
